Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 27, 2026
Red Leaf Moving ("we," "us," "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.
1. Who We Are
Red Leaf Moving is a locally owned moving company based in Edmonton, Alberta, serving Edmonton, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, Leduc, Fort Saskatchewan, and the surrounding area.
This policy applies to information we collect through our website (redleafmoving.ca), by phone, by email, and while providing moving services. It's written to comply with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where applicable — for example, long-distance moves that cross provincial lines — the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
2. Information We Collect
Information you give us directly:
Name, phone number, email address
Pickup and drop-off addresses
Details about your move — home size, inventory, special items, timing
Photos of belongings or your home, if you send them or our crew takes them, to prepare an accurate quote or document an item's condition
Payment information — processed directly by Square Canada when you pay for a job. We don't store your full card number; Square handles that under its own security standards and privacy policy.
Information collected automatically on our website:
Google Analytics — pages viewed, time on site, general location (city-level), device/browser type
Google Ads conversion tracking — which ad led you to our site and whether you requested a quote
Meta (Facebook) Pixel — similar tracking for visitors who arrive via Facebook or Instagram ads
This tracking is cookie-based and doesn't identify you personally unless you also fill out a form.
3. Why We Collect It
We use your information to:
Provide accurate moving quotes and book your job
Communicate with you before, during, and after a move
Process payment for services rendered
Send occasional promotional emails, if you haven't opted out (see Section 6)
Understand which advertising is bringing in business, so we spend our ad budget better
Keep records required for tax and legal purposes
We don't use your information for anything beyond running and improving Red Leaf Moving.
4. Who We Share It With
We do not sell your personal information.
We share information only with the service providers that help us run the business:
Square Canada — payment processing
Google (Workspace, Analytics, Ads) — email and website analytics/advertising
Meta — advertising tracking (Facebook/Instagram)
Our website host — to keep redleafmoving.ca running
We do not share your contact information with referral partners (property managers, realtors, storage companies, etc.). Any referral relationships we have run one way — from them to us.
We may disclose information if required by law (e.g., a court order), or to protect the safety, rights, or property of Red Leaf Moving, our customers, or the public.
5. Where Your Information Is Stored
Some of our service providers — Square, Google, Meta — are U.S.-based companies. That means some of your information may be stored or processed on servers outside Canada, where it could be subject to that country's laws, including potential access by foreign authorities under lawful process. This is standard for most small businesses using major cloud, payment, or advertising platforms, but we're required to tell you.
6. Cookies & Opt-Outs
Our website uses cookies for the analytics and advertising tools listed in Section 2. You can:
Opt out of Google Analytics tracking using Google's browser opt-out tool
Adjust your ad preferences directly in your Google or Meta/Facebook account settings
Block or delete cookies anytime through your browser settings
If you've received a marketing email from us and want to stop, every email includes an unsubscribe link — or just email info@redleafmoving.ca and we'll take you off the list.
7. How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep quote requests, contracts, and job records for at least 6 years, in line with CRA record-keeping requirements for tax purposes. If you request a quote but never book with us, we may keep basic contact details on file for a reasonable period in case you reach back out — but we'll delete it on request (see Section 8).
8. Your Rights
Under Alberta and federal privacy law, you have the right to:
Ask what personal information we hold about you
Correct inaccurate information
Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time
Request that we delete your personal information, subject to what we're legally required to keep (e.g., tax records)
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@redleafmoving.ca or (780) 938-7831. We'll respond within 30 days.
If you feel we haven't handled your information properly and we haven't resolved it together, you can file a complaint with:
Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta — oipc.ab.ca
Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada — priv.gc.ca (for matters involving interprovincial activity, such as a long-distance move)
9. Children's Privacy
Our services and website are not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
10. How We Protect Your Information
We use reasonable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect your information — including secure payment processing through Square (we never see or store full card numbers) and access limits on our business systems. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take precautions appropriate to a small business handling this kind of data.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our business or the law changes. The current version is always posted at redleafmoving.ca/privacy-policy, with the effective date updated above.
